"The Financial Fitness Forum has been an incredible resource for me as an independent practitioner.  Not only are the sessions so important to staying current how best to care for my clients, I've found a community of like-minded counsellors and adjacent industry professionals.  I've made wonderful connections and I'm proud to be aligned with such high calibre accredited financial practitioners".

AFCC, Independent Practitioner, BC

"Individuals and families want to achieve their life goals; they want to learn how to manage their money better. Certified Financial Counsellors help them do exactly that and I wouldn't be the AFCC I am today if not for the best practices I've picked up along the way through my network that I found while attending the Financial Fitness Forum."

Addictions Counsellor, AFCC, Toronto

"I was very new to the industry and while I knew that my heart wanted to help my community, I was hesitant and lacked awareness of OACCS.  Attending the conference is how I regulate my own compassion fatigue and re-energize with what I take back to my practice from attending the conference.  I can't wait to return to in-person and get to celebrate with my new broader network of others who are dedicated to change and I no longer feel so isolated."

Planning and Investing; The Financial Lifecycle from Vulnerable To Thriving.  Unite for Cohesive Rehabilitation and Client Success by Leaning on your AFCC Community of Practice

Presenter:  Bobby McBride, MBA, CFA, CFP, AFCC®

Often times as AFCC®s, we work with many Canadians who present with a myriad of needs on their path to sound financial wellness.  The differing environmental factors or uncontrollable life events can take anyone off the path that they expected and find themselves needing appropriate care through the specialization that being an AFCC designee provides.  As a MBA, CFA, CFP and AFCC, working in both a corporate environment and now as an independent practitioner, B. McBride will share how augmenting his service with the speciality of perspective and ethics of the AFCC® designation, shifted his niche focus for a more empowered client service.

Join this session for strengthening the ongoing rehabilitation that is the full lifecycle of a clients journey with fellow AFCC®s.  B. McBride will be sharing helpful tips and resources on how we can better serve individuals from a place of scarcity to thriving; the art of intentional long-term financial goals and security.  The journey to financial wellness can start at any age for any Canadian longing for a better future.  Lean on your AFCC® community of practice and shared ethics while providing holistic and all-encompassing support for Canadians.

Bridging the Financial Planning Gap: How AFCCs Can Help Those Who Feel Unseen by the Financial Industry

Presenter:  Jessica Moorhouse, AFCC®, Content Creator, Media Personality

As per the Financial Planning Standards Council, almost two thirds of Canadians don’t use a financial planner even though studies show that people’s financial confidence and well-being improve when they work with a professional. After 12 years as a financial content creator and 6 years as an AFCC®, Jessica Moorhouse has found that this gap mainly exists because people are either distrustful of advisors who are more focused on selling products than providing tailored advice, or they simply can’t afford the high fees of advice-only financial planners. This is where AFCCs can come in to bridge the gap to help those who feel unseen by the financial industry with areas such as budgeting, debt-repayment and financial wellness. Bringing in her own experience of building a financial education platform and financial counselling business from scratch, Jessica will share steps that AFCCs can take to build their own independent financial coaching businesses to serve those who feel like they have no one to turn to.
