Our association developed Accreditation for credit counselling agencies decades ago. In doing this, we became the first association anywhere in North America to implement this high standard for agencies. Accreditation recognizes that the agency has met the rigorous OACCS credit counselling sector standards that are founded on integrity, trust and excellence in governance, accountability, services and operations.

Pushing the bar higher, OACCS and CACCS created Canada's certification designation that delineates professionals who are both qualified and committed to an industry code of ethics in how to approach holistic client care.

OACCS partners with institutions that provide programming excellence that meet the AFCC Core Competencies.  This allows students with eligible credits from qualified institutions, the ability to fast-track and complete the AFCC® Exam in order to obtain their credential.

Achieving Accreditation and Certification is a mandatory requirement for members of CACCS and OACCS and an employment requirement for credit counsellors across Canada in all non-profit accredited credit counselling agencies.
